HeidiSQL is an open-source database administration tool that natively supports MariaDB, MySQL, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL. When paired with CData Connect AI, HediSQL reach extends to include access to live Act-On data. This article demonstrates how to connect to Act-On using Connect AI and query Act-On data in HeidiSQL.
CData Connect AI provides a pure SQL Server interface for Act-On, allowing you to query data from Act-On without replicating the data to a natively supported database. Using optimized data processing out of the box, CData Connect AI pushes all supported SQL operations (filters, JOINs, etc.) directly to Act-On, leveraging server-side processing to return the requested Act-On data quickly.
Connectivity to Act-On from HeidiSQL is made possible through CData Connect AI. To work with Act-On data from HeidiSQL, we start by creating and configuring a Act-On connection.
ActOn uses the OAuth authentication standard. To authenticate using OAuth, create an app to obtain the OAuthClientId, OAuthClientSecret, and CallbackURL connection properties.
See the Getting Started guide in the CData driver documentation for more information.
π Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
With the connection configured and a PAT generated, you are ready to connect to Act-On data from HeidiSQL.
To establish a connection from HeidiSQL to the CData Connect AI Virtual SQL Server API, follow these steps.
