Nintex Workflow Cloud is a cloud-based platform where you can design workflows to automate simple or complex processes using drag-and-drop interactions β without writing any code. When paired with CData Connect AI, you get instant, cloud-to-cloud access to Act-On data for business applications. This article shows how to create a virtual database for Act-On in Connect AI and build a simple workflow from Act-On data in Nintex.
CData Connect AI provides a pure, cloud-to-cloud interface for Act-On, allowing you to build workflows from live Act-On data in Nintex Workflow Cloud β without replicating the data to a natively supported database. Nintex allows you to access data directly using SQL queries. Using optimized data processing out of the box, CData Connect AI pushes all supported SQL operations (filters, JOINs, etc.) directly to Act-On, leveraging server-side processing to quickly return the requested Act-On data.
Connectivity to Act-On from Nintex is made possible through CData Connect AI. To work with Act-On data from Nintex, we start by creating and configuring a Act-On connection.
ActOn uses the OAuth authentication standard. To authenticate using OAuth, create an app to obtain the OAuthClientId, OAuthClientSecret, and CallbackURL connection properties.
See the Getting Started guide in the CData driver documentation for more information.
π Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
With the connection configured and a PAT generated, you are ready to connect to Act-On data from Nintex Workflow Cloud.
The steps below outline creating a new connection to Act-On data from Nintex (via Connect AI).
With the connection to CData Connect AI configured, we are ready to build a simple workflow to access Act-On data. Start by clicking the "Create workflow" button.
Once you configure the actions, click "Save," name the Workflow, and click "Save" again. You now have a simple workflow that will query Act-On using SQL and sand an email with the results.
