This article shows how to connect to AlloyDB from Jaspersoft Studio as a standard JDBC data source with the CData JDBC Driver for AlloyDB. You will use the standard Jaspersoft wizards to build SQL queries to AlloyDB. The queries are executed directly to the AlloyDB APIs, enabling real-time connectivity to AlloyDB data.
To create a JDBC data source in Jaspersoft Studio, create a data adapter:
The following connection properties are usually required in order to connect to AlloyDB.
You can also optionally set the following:
Standard authentication (using the user/password combination supplied earlier) is the default form of authentication.
No further action is required to leverage Standard Authentication to connect.
There are additional methods of authentication available which must be enabled in the pg_hba.conf file on the AlloyDB server.

This authentication method must be enabled by setting the auth-method in the pg_hba.conf file to md5.
This authentication method must be enabled by setting the auth-method in the pg_hba.conf file to scram-sha-256.
The authentication with Kerberos is initiated by AlloyDB Server when the β is trying to connect to it. You should set up Kerberos on the AlloyDB Server to activate this authentication method. Once you have Kerberos authentication set up on the AlloyDB Server, see the Kerberos section of the help documentation for details on how to authenticate with Kerberos.
For assistance in constructing the JDBC URL, use the connection string designer built into the AlloyDB JDBC Driver. Either double-click the JAR file or execute the jar file from the command-line.

Fill in the connection properties and copy the connection string to the clipboard.
π Using the built-in connection string designer to generate a JDBC URL (Salesforce is shown.)When you configure the JDBC URL, you may also want to set the Max Rows connection property. This will limit the number of rows returned, which is especially helpful for improving performance when designing reports and visualizations.
Below is a typical JDBC URL for AlloyDB:

Follow the steps below to build an SQL query to AlloyDB, the basis of a simple report:
SELECT ShipName, ShipCity FROM Orders WHERE ShipCountry = 'USA'π The SQL query to be used to pull data into the report. (Salesforce is shown.)
In the Preview tab, you can see the report as it would look with the current AlloyDB data.

When retrieving the data from the remote data source, more restrictive queries, written for specific report objects, can result in faster performance.
Follow the steps below to create a new dataset to populate the chart:

After adding the dataset, follow the steps below to map column values to the chart axes in the chart wizard:
Specify the y-axis values: In the chart wizard, click the button next to the Value box. In the Expression Editor, double-click ShipCity to set the expression to $F{ShipCity}.
