This article will explain how to use CData Connect AI to present Amazon S3 data as OData services and then consume the data in Microsoft Excel's Power Pivot business intelligence tool. Follow the steps below to retrieve Amazon S3 data in Power Pivot.
To work with Amazon S3 data from Power Pivot, we need to connect to Amazon S3 from Connect AI, provide user access to the connection, and create a Workspace for the Amazon S3 data.
CData Connect AI uses a straightforward, point-and-click interface to connect to data sources.
To authorize Amazon S3 requests, provide the credentials for an administrator account or for an IAM user with custom permissions. Set AccessKey to the access key Id. Set SecretKey to the secret access key.
Note: You can connect as the AWS account administrator, but it is recommended to use IAM user credentials to access AWS services.
For information on obtaining the credentials and other authentication methods, refer to the Getting Started section of the Help documentation.
π Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
After connecting to Amazon S3, create a workspace for your desired table(s).
With the connection, PAT, and Workspace configured, you are ready to connect to Amazon S3 data from Power Pivot.
Follow the steps below to import tables that can be refreshed on demand:
Select the tables that you would like to import into Excel
π Selecting tables (Salesforce is shown.)
After selecting your table(s) and clicking Load, you should see the data appear in an Excel spreadsheet
π Loading tables (Salesforce is shown.)
Now, click the Power Pivot tab on the ribbon, and then select Add to Data Model.
π Loading data into Power Pivot (Salesforce is shown.)
This can now work with your Amazon S3 data in Power Pivot.
