Redash is a collaboration tool that lets you query, visualize, and share your data. When paired with CData Connect AI, Redash gets access to live Amazon S3 data. This article demonstrates how to connect to Amazon S3 using Connect AI and work with live Amazon S3 data in Redash.
CData Connect AI provides a pure SQL Server interface for Amazon S3, allowing you to query data from Amazon S3 without replicating the data to a natively supported database. Using optimized data processing out of the box, CData Connect AI pushes all supported SQL operations (filters, JOINs, etc.) directly to Amazon S3, leveraging server-side processing to return the requested Amazon S3 data quickly.
Connectivity to Amazon S3 from Redash is made possible through CData Connect AI. To work with Amazon S3 data in Redash, we start by creating and configuring a Amazon S3 connection.
To authorize Amazon S3 requests, provide the credentials for an administrator account or for an IAM user with custom permissions. Set AccessKey to the access key Id. Set SecretKey to the secret access key.
Note: You can connect as the AWS account administrator, but it is recommended to use IAM user credentials to access AWS services.
For information on obtaining the credentials and other authentication methods, refer to the Getting Started section of the Help documentation.
๐ Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
With the connection configured and a PAT generated, you are ready to connect to Amazon S3 data from Redash.
