DataGrip is a database IDE that allows SQL developers to query, create, and manage databases. When paired with the CData JDBC Driver for Amazon S3, DataGrip can work with live Amazon S3 data. This article shows how to establish a connection to Amazon S3 data in DataGrip.
The steps below describe how to create a new Data Source in DataGrip for Amazon S3.
For assistance in constructing the JDBC URL, use the connection string designer built into the Amazon S3 JDBC Driver. Either double-click the JAR file or execute the jar file from the command-line.
java -jar cdata.jdbc.amazons3.jar
Fill in the connection properties and copy the connection string to the clipboard.
To authorize Amazon S3 requests, provide the credentials for an administrator account or for an IAM user with custom permissions. Set AccessKey to the access key Id. Set SecretKey to the secret access key.
Note: You can connect as the AWS account administrator, but it is recommended to use IAM user credentials to access AWS services.
For information on obtaining the credentials and other authentication methods, refer to the Getting Started section of the Help documentation.
π Using the built-in connection string designer to generate a JDBC URL (Salesforce is shown.)jdbc:amazons3:AccessKey=a123;SecretKey=s123;
At this point, you will see the data source in the Data Explorer.
To browse through the Amazon S3 entities (available as tables) accessible through the JDBC Driver, expand the Data Source.
π Exploring the data (Salesforce is shown.)To execute queries, right click on any table and select "New" -> "Query Console."
π Opening a new Query Console.In the Console, write the SQL query you wish to execute. For example:
SELECT Name, OwnerId FROM ObjectsACL WHERE Name = 'TestBucket'π Querying with SQL (Salesforce is shown.)
