The CData JDBC Driver for Amazon S3 fully implements the JDBC standard and can provide Amazon S3 data connectivity to a wide variety of BI, reporting, and ETL tools and custom applications. In this article, we explain how to set Amazon S3 data as JDBC data source in FineReport and view Amazon S3 data as a table in the Report Designer.
Follow the instruction below to set Amazon S3 data as a FineReport database connection.
Next we will set up the data connection definition in the window.
To authorize Amazon S3 requests, provide the credentials for an administrator account or for an IAM user with custom permissions. Set AccessKey to the access key Id. Set SecretKey to the secret access key.
Note: You can connect as the AWS account administrator, but it is recommended to use IAM user credentials to access AWS services.
For information on obtaining the credentials and other authentication methods, refer to the Getting Started section of the Help documentation.
For assistance in constructing the JDBC URL, use the connection string designer built into the Amazon S3 JDBC Driver. Either double-click the JAR file or execute the jar file from the command-line.
java -jar cdata.jdbc.amazons3.jar
Fill in the connection properties and copy the connection string to the clipboard.
π Using the built-in connection string designer to generate a JDBC URL (Salesforce is shown.)When you configure the JDBC URL, you may also want to set the Max Rows connection property. This will limit the number of rows returned, which is especially helpful for improving performance when designing reports and visualizations.
A typical JDBC URL is below:
jdbc:amazons3:AccessKey=a123;SecretKey=s123;
Click Test connection to ensure you have configured the connection properly. With the connection to Amazon S3 set up, you can use it as FineReport data source.
With these simple steps, Amazon S3 can be used as a JDBC data source in FineReport.
