This guide explains everything you need to get started with the Amazon S3 PowerShell Cmdlets. You'll learn how to install the cmdlets, configure your first connection, run queries, and explore next steps for working with Amazon S3 data in PowerShell.

CData Cmdlets are delivered through the PowerShell Gallery, ensuring a simple and consistent installation process across platforms.
Install-Module AmazonS3Cmdlets -Repository PSGallery -Force

The cmdlets support both trial and fully licensed activation.
Trial activation is automatic - no key is required. Once installed, you can begin using the cmdlets immediately.

Once the module is installed and licensed, you can establish a connection to Amazon S3 using the
Connect-Amazon S3 cmdlet
After obtaining the needed connection properties, accessing Amazon S3 data in PowerShell and preparing for replication consists of four basic steps.
To authorize Amazon S3 requests, provide the credentials for an administrator account or for an IAM user with custom permissions. Set AccessKey to the access key Id. Set SecretKey to the secret access key.
Note: You can connect as the AWS account administrator, but it is recommended to use IAM user credentials to access AWS services.

Install the module:
Install-Module AmazonS3Cmdlets
Connect to Amazon S3:
$amazons3 = Connect-AmazonS3 -AccessKey $AccessKey -SecretKey $SecretKey
Once connected, you can query data using standard SQL like commands.
Example Query:
$results = Select-AmazonS3 ` -Connection $conn ` -Table "ObjectsACL" ` -Columns "Name,OwnerId" ` -Where "Name != ''"
Display the results:
$results
You have now successfully accessed Amazon S3 data from PowerShell!
