The CData JDBC driver for Azure Table is easy to integrate with Java Web applications. This article shows how to efficiently connect to Azure Table data in Jetty by configuring the driver for connection pooling. You will configure a JNDI resource for Azure Table in Jetty.
Follow the steps below to connect to Salesforce from Jetty.
Enable the JNDI module for your Jetty base. The following command enables JNDI from the command-line:
java -jar ../start.jar --add-to-startd=jndi
Declare the resource and its scope. Enter the required connection properties in the resource declaration. This example declares the Azure Table data source at the level of the Web app, in WEB-INF\jetty-env.xml.
<Configure id='azuredemo' class="org.eclipse.jetty.webapp.WebAppContext"> <New id="azuredemo" class="org.eclipse.jetty.plus.jndi.Resource"> <Arg><Ref refid="azuredemo"/></Arg> <Arg>jdbc/azuredb</Arg> <Arg> <New class="cdata.jdbc.azuretables.AzureTablesDriver"> <Set name="url">jdbc:azuretables:</Set> <Set name="AccessKey">myAccessKey</Set> <Set name="Account">myAccountName</Set> </New> </Arg> </New> </Configure>
Specify your AccessKey and your Account to connect. Set the Account property to the Storage Account Name and set AccessKey to one of the Access Keys. Either the Primary or Secondary Access Keys can be used. To obtain these values, navigate to the Storage Accounts blade in the Azure portal. You can obtain the access key by selecting your account and clicking Access Keys in the Settings section.
Configure the resource in the Web.xml:
jdbc/azuredb javax.sql.DataSource Container
You can then access Azure Table with a lookup to java:comp/env/jdbc/azuredb:
InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
DataSource myazure = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/azuredb");
The steps above show how to configure the driver in a simple connection pooling scenario. For more use cases and information, see the Working with Jetty JNDI chapter in the Jetty documentation.
