Nintex Workflow Cloud is a cloud-based platform where you can design workflows to automate simple or complex processes using drag-and-drop interactions β without writing any code. When paired with CData Connect AI, you get instant, cloud-to-cloud access to Azure Active Directory data for business applications. This article shows how to create a virtual database for Azure Active Directory in Connect AI and build a simple workflow from Azure Active Directory data in Nintex.
CData Connect AI provides a pure, cloud-to-cloud interface for Azure Active Directory, allowing you to build workflows from live Azure Active Directory data in Nintex Workflow Cloud β without replicating the data to a natively supported database. Nintex allows you to access data directly using SQL queries. Using optimized data processing out of the box, CData Connect AI pushes all supported SQL operations (filters, JOINs, etc.) directly to Azure Active Directory, leveraging server-side processing to quickly return the requested Azure Active Directory data.
Connectivity to Azure Active Directory from Nintex is made possible through CData Connect AI. To work with Azure Active Directory data from Nintex, we start by creating and configuring a Azure Active Directory connection.
Azure Active Directory uses the OAuth authentication standard. To authenticate using OAuth, create an app to obtain the OAuthClientId, OAuthClientSecret, and CallbackURL connection properties. See the OAuth section in the Help documentation for an authentication guide.
π Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
With the connection configured and a PAT generated, you are ready to connect to Azure Active Directory data from Nintex Workflow Cloud.
The steps below outline creating a new connection to Azure Active Directory data from Nintex (via Connect AI).
With the connection to CData Connect AI configured, we are ready to build a simple workflow to access Azure Active Directory data. Start by clicking the "Create workflow" button.
Once you configure the actions, click "Save," name the Workflow, and click "Save" again. You now have a simple workflow that will query Azure Active Directory using SQL and sand an email with the results.
