Tableau is a visual analytics platform transforming the way businesses use data to solve problems. When paired with the CData Tableau Connector for Basecamp, you can easily get access to live Basecamp data within Tableau. This article shows how to connect to Basecamp in Tableau and build a simple chart.
The CData Tableau Connectors enable high-speed access to live Basecamp data in Tableau. Once you install the connector, you simply authenticate with Basecamp and you can immediately start building responsive, dynamic visualizations and dashboards. By surfacing Basecamp data using native Tableau data types and handling complex filters, aggregations, & other operations automatically, CData Tableau Connectors grant seamless access to Basecamp data.
NOTE: The CData Tableau Connectors require Tableau 2020.3 or higher. If you are using an older version of Tableau, you will need to use the CData JDBC Driver.
Open Tableau and click More under Connect -> To a Server. Select "Basecamp by CData," then configure the connection and click "Sign In."
Basecamp uses basic or OAuth 2.0 authentication. To use basic authentication you will need the user and password that you use for logging in to Basecamp. To authenticate to Basecamp via OAuth 2.0, obtain the OAuthClientId, OAuthClientSecret, and CallbackURL connection properties by registering an app with Basecamp.
See the Getting Started section in the help documentation for a connection guide.
Additionally, specify the AccountId connection property. This can be copied from the URL after you log in.
