Embarcadero RAD Studio provides a development environment for Delphi and C++Builder applications. With the CData ODBC Driver for Bitbucket, you gain access to live Bitbucket data within RAD Studio, abstracting the data into tables, views, and stored procedures that can be used to retrieve and update Bitbucket data. This article will walk through connecting to Bitbucket and creating a simple VCL application with the Form Designer.
If you have not already, first specify connection properties in an ODBC DSN (data source name). This is the last step of the driver installation. You can use the Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator to create and configure ODBC DSNs.
For most queries, you must set the Workspace. The only exception to this is the Workspaces table, which does not require this property to be set, as querying it provides a list of workspace slugs that can be used to set Workspace. To query this table, you must set Schema to 'Information' and execute the query SELECT * FROM Workspaces>.
Setting Schema to 'Information' displays general information. To connect to Bitbucket, set these parameters:
Bitbucket supports OAuth authentication only. To enable this authentication from all OAuth flows, you must create a custom OAuth application, and set AuthScheme to OAuth.
Be sure to review the Help documentation for the required connection properties for you specific authentication needs (desktop applications, web applications, and headless machines).
From your Bitbucket account:
You can then follow the steps below to use the Data Explorer to create a FireDAC connection to Bitbucket data.
Follow the procedure below to start executing queries to Bitbucket data from a simple VCL application that displays the results of a query in a grid.
Drop a TFDConnection component onto the form and set the following properties:
Drop a TFDQuery component onto the form and set the properties below:
SQL: Click the button in the SQL property and enter a query. For example:
SELECT Title, ContentRaw FROM Issues WHERE Id = '1'
Drop a TDataSource component onto the form and set the following property:
Drop a TDBGrid control onto the form and set the following property:
You now have an executable application that displays the results of the SQL Query set in the TFDQuery object.

👁 Bitbucket IconThe Bitbucket ODBC Driver is a powerful tool that allows you to connect with live data from Bitbucket, directly from any applications that support ODBC connectivity.
Access Bitbucket data like you would a database - read, write, and update Bitbucket 0, etc. through a standard ODBC Driver interface.
