In this article, we will guide you through the process of utilizing wizards within Visual Studio to seamlessly integrate the CData ADO.NET Provider for Certinia into a basic MVC (Model, View, Controller) project.
Follow the steps below to save connection properties and map tables to entities in the data model.
If you are using Entity Framework 6, you will need to take the preliminary step of registering the Certinia Entity Framework provider for your project. See the "LINQ and Entity Framework" chapter in the help documentation for a guide.
Note that MVC 3 scaffolding and MVC 4 scaffolding do not support Entity Framework 6. You can use your scaffolding with Entity Framework 6 by upgrading to the latest version of MVC.Specify the required connection string properties.
There are several authentication methods available for connecting to Certinia: login credentials, SSO, and OAuth.
Set the User and Password to your login credentials. Additionally, set the SecurityToken. By default, the SecurityToken is required, but you can make it optional by allowing a range of trusted IP addresses.
To disable the security token:
To obtain the security token:
If you do not have access to the user name and password or do not want to require them, use the OAuth user consent flow. See the OAuth section in the Help for an authentication guide.
Set UseSandbox to true (false by default) to use a Certinia sandbox account. Ensure that you specify a sandbox user name in User.
A typical connection string is below:
User=myUser;Password=myPassword;Security Token=myToken;InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;๐ The connection for the model. (QuickBooks is shown.)
Name the connection and select whether to include sensitive information, such as connection credentials, in the connection string. For simplicity, this example saves sensitive information in Web.config. The connection settings are saved as CertiniaEntities.
