The CData JDBC driver for Certinia is easy to integrate with Java Web applications. This article shows how to efficiently connect to Certinia data in Jetty by configuring the driver for connection pooling. You will configure a JNDI resource for Certinia in Jetty.
Follow the steps below to connect to Salesforce from Jetty.
Enable the JNDI module for your Jetty base. The following command enables JNDI from the command-line:
java -jar ../start.jar --add-to-startd=jndi
Declare the resource and its scope. Enter the required connection properties in the resource declaration. This example declares the Certinia data source at the level of the Web app, in WEB-INF\jetty-env.xml.
<Configure id='certiniademo' class="org.eclipse.jetty.webapp.WebAppContext"> <New id="certiniademo" class="org.eclipse.jetty.plus.jndi.Resource"> <Arg><Ref refid="certiniademo"/></Arg> <Arg>jdbc/certiniadb</Arg> <Arg> <New class="cdata.jdbc.certinia.CertiniaDriver"> <Set name="url">jdbc:certinia:</Set> <Set name="User">myUser</Set> <Set name="Password">myPassword</Set> <Set name="Security Token">myToken</Set> <Set name="InitiateOAuth">GETANDREFRESH</Set> </New> </Arg> </New> </Configure>
There are several authentication methods available for connecting to Certinia: login credentials, SSO, and OAuth.
Set the User and Password to your login credentials. Additionally, set the SecurityToken. By default, the SecurityToken is required, but you can make it optional by allowing a range of trusted IP addresses.
To disable the security token:
To obtain the security token:
If you do not have access to the user name and password or do not want to require them, use the OAuth user consent flow. See the OAuth section in the Help for an authentication guide.
Set UseSandbox to true (false by default) to use a Certinia sandbox account. Ensure that you specify a sandbox user name in User.
Configure the resource in the Web.xml:
jdbc/certiniadb javax.sql.DataSource Container
You can then access Certinia with a lookup to java:comp/env/jdbc/certiniadb:
InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
DataSource mycertinia = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/certiniadb");
The steps above show how to configure the driver in a simple connection pooling scenario. For more use cases and information, see the Working with Jetty JNDI chapter in the Jetty documentation.
