Embarcadero RAD Studio provides a development environment for Delphi and C++Builder applications. With the CData ODBC Driver for Databricks, you gain access to live Databricks data within RAD Studio, abstracting the data into tables, views, and stored procedures that can be used to retrieve and update Databricks data. This article will walk through connecting to Databricks and creating a simple VCL application with the Form Designer.
Accessing and integrating live data from Databricks has never been easier with CData. Customers rely on CData connectivity to:
While many customers are using CData's solutions to migrate data from different systems into their Databricks data lakehouse, several customers use our live connectivity solutions to federate connectivity between their databases and Databricks. These customers are using SQL Server Linked Servers or Polybase to get live access to Databricks from within their existing RDBMs.

If you have not already, first specify connection properties in an ODBC DSN (data source name). This is the last step of the driver installation. You can use the Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator to create and configure ODBC DSNs.
To connect to a Databricks cluster, set the properties as described below.
Note: The needed values can be found in your Databricks instance by navigating to Clusters, and selecting the desired cluster, and selecting the JDBC/ODBC tab under Advanced Options.
You can then follow the steps below to use the Data Explorer to create a FireDAC connection to Databricks data.
Follow the procedure below to start executing queries to Databricks data from a simple VCL application that displays the results of a query in a grid.
Drop a TFDConnection component onto the form and set the following properties:
Drop a TFDQuery component onto the form and set the properties below:
SQL: Click the button in the SQL property and enter a query. For example:
SELECT City, CompanyName FROM Customers WHERE Country = 'US'
Drop a TDataSource component onto the form and set the following property:
Drop a TDBGrid control onto the form and set the following property:
You now have an executable application that displays the results of the SQL Query set in the TFDQuery object.

👁 Databricks IconThe Databricks ODBC Driver is a powerful tool that allows you to connect with live data from Databricks, directly from any applications that support ODBC connectivity.
Access Databricks data like you would a database - read, write, and update through a standard ODBC Driver interface.
