ThoughtSpot is a cloud-based analytics platform that uses artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP) to help users analyze data and make decisions. When paired with CData Connect AI, you get instant, cloud-to-cloud access to Dynamics CRM data for visualizations, dashboards, and more. This article shows how to connect to Dynamics CRM and build visualizations from Dynamics CRM data in ThoughtSpot.

CData customers use our Dynamics CRM connectivity solutions for a variety of reasons, whether they're looking to replicate their data into a data warehouse (alongside other data sources) or analyze live Dynamics CRMa data from their preferred data tools inside the Microsoft ecosystem (Power BI, Excel, etc.) or with external tools (Tableau, Looker, etc.).
CData Connect AI provides a pure SQL Server, cloud-to-cloud interface for Dynamics CRM, allowing you to easily build models and visualizations from live Dynamics CRM data in ThoughtSpot. As you build visualizations, ThoughtSpot generates SQL queries to gather data. Using optimized data processing out of the box, CData Connect AI pushes all supported SQL operations (filters, JOINs, etc) directly to Dynamics CRM, leveraging server-side processing to quickly return Dynamics CRM data.
Connectivity to Dynamics CRM from ThoughtSpot is made possible through CData Connect AI. To work with Dynamics CRM data from ThoughtSpot, we start by creating and configuring a Dynamics CRM connection.
The connection string options meet the authentication and connection requirements of different Dynamics CRM instances. To connect to your instance, set the User and Password properties, under the Authentication section, to valid Dynamics CRM user credentials and set the Url to a valid Dynamics CRM server organization root. Additionally, set the CRMVersion property to 'CRM2011+' or 'CRMOnline'. IFD configurations are supported as well; set InternetFacingDeployment to true.
Additionally, you can provide the security token service (STS) or AD FS endpoint in the STSURL property. This value can be retrieved with the GetSTSUrl stored procedure. Office 365 users can connect to the default STS URL by simply setting CRMVersion.
π Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
With the connection configured and a PAT generated, you are ready to connect to Dynamics CRM data from ThoughtSpot.
To establish a connection from ThoughtSpot to the CData Connect AI Virtual SQL Server API, follow these steps.
After you successfully configure your connection, you can build models, search, and visualize your Dynamics CRM data.
At this point, you have a direct, cloud-to-cloud connection to live Dynamics CRM data from ThoughtSpot. You can model, search, and visualize your data from ThoughtSpot .
