Nintex Workflow Cloud is a cloud-based platform where you can design workflows to automate simple or complex processes using drag-and-drop interactions β without writing any code. When paired with CData Connect AI, you get instant, cloud-to-cloud access to Amazon DynamoDB data for business applications. This article shows how to create a virtual database for Amazon DynamoDB in Connect AI and build a simple workflow from Amazon DynamoDB data in Nintex.
CData Connect AI provides a pure, cloud-to-cloud interface for Amazon DynamoDB, allowing you to build workflows from live Amazon DynamoDB data in Nintex Workflow Cloud β without replicating the data to a natively supported database. Nintex allows you to access data directly using SQL queries. Using optimized data processing out of the box, CData Connect AI pushes all supported SQL operations (filters, JOINs, etc.) directly to Amazon DynamoDB, leveraging server-side processing to quickly return the requested Amazon DynamoDB data.
Connectivity to Amazon DynamoDB from Nintex is made possible through CData Connect AI. To work with Amazon DynamoDB data from Nintex, we start by creating and configuring a Amazon DynamoDB connection.
The connection to Amazon DynamoDB is made using your AccessKey, SecretKey, and optionally your Domain and Region. Your AccessKey and SecretKey can be obtained on the security credentials page for your Amazon Web Services account. Your Region will be displayed in the upper left-hand corner when you are logged into DynamoDB.
π Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
With the connection configured and a PAT generated, you are ready to connect to Amazon DynamoDB data from Nintex Workflow Cloud.
The steps below outline creating a new connection to Amazon DynamoDB data from Nintex (via Connect AI).
With the connection to CData Connect AI configured, we are ready to build a simple workflow to access Amazon DynamoDB data. Start by clicking the "Create workflow" button.
Once you configure the actions, click "Save," name the Workflow, and click "Save" again. You now have a simple workflow that will query Amazon DynamoDB using SQL and sand an email with the results.
