The CData ODBC driver for Amazon DynamoDB enables access to live data from Amazon DynamoDB under the ODBC standard, allowing you work with Amazon DynamoDB data in a wide variety of BI, reporting, and ETL tools and directly, using familiar SQL queries. This article shows how to connect to Amazon DynamoDB data as a generic ODBC Data Provider and create charts, reports, and dashboards based on Amazon DynamoDB data in DBxtra.
The connection to Amazon DynamoDB is made using your AccessKey, SecretKey, and optionally your Domain and Region. Your AccessKey and SecretKey can be obtained on the security credentials page for your Amazon Web Services account. Your Region will be displayed in the upper left-hand corner when you are logged into DynamoDB.
When you configure the DSN, you may also want to set the Max Rows connection property. This will limit the number of rows returned, which is especially helpful for improving performance when designing reports and visualizations.
You are now ready to create a dashboard with Amazon DynamoDB data.
With a new Dashboard created, you are ready to begin analysis of Amazon DynamoDB data. Thanks to the ODBC Driver for Amazon DynamoDB, you can refresh the Dashboard and immediately see any changes made at the source. In the same way, you can create and view Reports with live, up-to-date Amazon DynamoDB data.
