Tableau is a visual analytics platform transforming the way businesses use data to solve problems. When paired with CData Connect AI, you get instant, cloud-to-cloud access to Oracle Eloqua data for visualizations, dashboards, and more. This article shows how to connect to Oracle Eloqua and build visualizations from Oracle Eloqua data in Tableau.
CData Connect AI provides a pure SQL Server, cloud-to-cloud interface for Oracle Eloqua, allowing you to easily build visualizations from live Oracle Eloqua data in Tableau without installing connectors. As you build visualizations, Tableau generates SQL queries to gather data. Using optimized data processing out of the box, CData Connect AI pushes all supported SQL operations (filters, JOINs, etc) directly to Oracle Eloqua, leveraging server-side processing to quickly return Oracle Eloqua data.
Connectivity to Oracle Eloqua from Tableau is made possible through CData Connect AI. To work with Oracle Eloqua data from Tableau, we start by creating and configuring a Oracle Eloqua connection.
There are two authentication methods available for connecting to Oracle Eloqua: Login and OAuth. The Login method requires you to have the Company, User, and Password of the user.
If you do not have access to the username and password or do not wish to require them, you can use OAuth authentication. OAuth is better suited for allowing other users to access their own data. Using login credentials is better suited for accessing your own data.
π Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
With the connection configured and a PAT generated, you are ready to connect to Oracle Eloqua data from Tableau.
To establish a connection from Tableau Desktop to the CData Connect AI Virtual SQL Server, follow these steps.
At this point, you have a direct, cloud-to-cloud connection to live Oracle Eloqua data from your Tableau workbook. You can create new visualizations, build dashboards, and more.
