Nintex Workflow Cloud is a cloud-based platform where you can design workflows to automate simple or complex processes using drag-and-drop interactions β without writing any code. When paired with CData Connect AI, you get instant, cloud-to-cloud access to Microsoft Exchange data for business applications. This article shows how to create a virtual database for Microsoft Exchange in Connect AI and build a simple workflow from Microsoft Exchange data in Nintex.
CData Connect AI provides a pure, cloud-to-cloud interface for Microsoft Exchange, allowing you to build workflows from live Microsoft Exchange data in Nintex Workflow Cloud β without replicating the data to a natively supported database. Nintex allows you to access data directly using SQL queries. Using optimized data processing out of the box, CData Connect AI pushes all supported SQL operations (filters, JOINs, etc.) directly to Microsoft Exchange, leveraging server-side processing to quickly return the requested Microsoft Exchange data.
Connectivity to Microsoft Exchange from Nintex is made possible through CData Connect AI. To work with Microsoft Exchange data from Nintex, we start by creating and configuring a Microsoft Exchange connection.
Specify the User and Password to connect to Exchange. Additionally, specify the address of the Exchange server you are connecting to and the Platform associated with the server.
π Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
With the connection configured and a PAT generated, you are ready to connect to Microsoft Exchange data from Nintex Workflow Cloud.
The steps below outline creating a new connection to Microsoft Exchange data from Nintex (via Connect AI).
With the connection to CData Connect AI configured, we are ready to build a simple workflow to access Microsoft Exchange data. Start by clicking the "Create workflow" button.
Once you configure the actions, click "Save," name the Workflow, and click "Save" again. You now have a simple workflow that will query Microsoft Exchange using SQL and sand an email with the results.
