Using SQL Server as a backup for critical business data provides an essential safety net against loss. Backing up data to SQL Server enables business users to more easily connect that data with features like reporting, analytics, and more.
This example demonstrates how to use the CData SSIS Tasks for Google Analytics inside of a SQL Server SSIS workflow to transfer Google Analytics data into a Microsoft SQL Server database.
To get started, add a new Google Analytics source and SQL Server ADO.NET destination to a new data flow task.
๐ The Data Flow task used in this example. (Salesforce is shown.)Follow the steps below to save Google Analytics connection properties in a connection manager.
Google uses the OAuth authentication standard. To access Google APIs on behalf on individual users, you can use the embedded credentials or you can register your own OAuth app.
OAuth also enables you to use a service account to connect on behalf of users in a Google Apps domain. To authenticate with a service account, register an application to obtain the OAuth JWT values.
In addition to the OAuth values, set Profile to the profile you want to connect to.
This can be set to either the Id or website URL for the Profile. If not specified, the first Profile returned will be used.
๐ Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown).
Follow the steps below to specify the query to be used to extract Google Analytics data.
SELECT Browser, Sessions FROM Traffic๐ The SQL query to retrieve records. (Salesforce is shown.)
Follow the steps below to specify the SQL server table to load the Google Analytics data into.
You can now run the project. After the SSIS Task has finished executing, your database will be populated with Google Analytics data.
