Nintex Workflow Cloud is a cloud-based platform where you can design workflows to automate simple or complex processes using drag-and-drop interactions β without writing any code. When paired with CData Connect AI, you get instant, cloud-to-cloud access to Google Calendar data for business applications. This article shows how to create a virtual database for Google Calendar in Connect AI and build a simple workflow from Google Calendar data in Nintex.
CData Connect AI provides a pure, cloud-to-cloud interface for Google Calendar, allowing you to build workflows from live Google Calendar data in Nintex Workflow Cloud β without replicating the data to a natively supported database. Nintex allows you to access data directly using SQL queries. Using optimized data processing out of the box, CData Connect AI pushes all supported SQL operations (filters, JOINs, etc.) directly to Google Calendar, leveraging server-side processing to quickly return the requested Google Calendar data.
Connectivity to Google Calendar from Nintex is made possible through CData Connect AI. To work with Google Calendar data from Nintex, we start by creating and configuring a Google Calendar connection.
You can connect to Google APIs on behalf of individual users or on behalf of a domain. Google uses the OAuth authentication standard. See the "Getting Started" section of the help documentation for a guide.
π Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
With the connection configured and a PAT generated, you are ready to connect to Google Calendar data from Nintex Workflow Cloud.
The steps below outline creating a new connection to Google Calendar data from Nintex (via Connect AI).
With the connection to CData Connect AI configured, we are ready to build a simple workflow to access Google Calendar data. Start by clicking the "Create workflow" button.
Once you configure the actions, click "Save," name the Workflow, and click "Save" again. You now have a simple workflow that will query Google Calendar using SQL and sand an email with the results.
