The CData JDBC Driver for Google Data Catalog fully implements the JDBC standard and can provide Google Data Catalog data connectivity to a wide variety of BI, reporting, and ETL tools and custom applications. In this article, we explain how to set Google Data Catalog data as JDBC data source in FineReport and view Google Data Catalog data as a table in the Report Designer.
Follow the instruction below to set Google Data Catalog data as a FineReport database connection.
Next we will set up the data connection definition in the window.
Google Data Catalog uses the OAuth authentication standard. Authorize access to Google APIs on behalf on individual users or on behalf of users in a domain.
Before connecting, specify the following to identify the organization and project you would like to connect to:
Click the project selection drop-down, and select your organization from the list. Then, click More -> Settings. The organization ID is displayed on this page.
Find this by navigating to the cloud console dashboard and selecting your project from the Select from drop-down. The project ID will be present in the Project info card.
When you connect, the OAuth endpoint opens in your default browser. Log in and grant permissions to the application to completes the OAuth process. For more information, refer to the OAuth section in the Help documentation.
For assistance in constructing the JDBC URL, use the connection string designer built into the Google Data Catalog JDBC Driver. Either double-click the JAR file or execute the jar file from the command-line.
java -jar cdata.jdbc.googledatacatalog.jar
Fill in the connection properties and copy the connection string to the clipboard.
π Using the built-in connection string designer to generate a JDBC URL (Salesforce is shown.)When you configure the JDBC URL, you may also want to set the Max Rows connection property. This will limit the number of rows returned, which is especially helpful for improving performance when designing reports and visualizations.
A typical JDBC URL is below:
jdbc:googledatacatalog:ProjectId=YourProjectId;InitiateOAuth=GETANDREFRESH;
Click Test connection to ensure you have configured the connection properly. With the connection to Google Data Catalog set up, you can use it as FineReport data source.
With these simple steps, Google Data Catalog can be used as a JDBC data source in FineReport.
