Tableau is a visual analytics platform transforming the way businesses use data to solve problems. This article shows how to connect to Google Search in Tableau and build a simple chart.
The CData Tableau Connectors enable high-speed access to live Google Search results in Tableau. Once you install the connector, you simply authenticate with Google Search and you can immediately start building responsive, dynamic visualizations and dashboards. By surfacing Google Search results using native Tableau data types and handling complex filters, aggregations, & other operations automatically, CData Tableau Connectors grant seamless access to Google Search results.
NOTE: The CData Tableau Connectors require Tableau 2020.3 or higher. If you are using an older version of Tableau, you will need to use the CData JDBC Driver. If you wish to connect to Google Search results in Tableau Cloud, you will need to use CData Connect AI.
Open Tableau and click More under Connect -> To a Server. Select "Google Search by CData," then configure the connection and click "Sign In."
To search with a Google custom search engine, you need to set the CustomSearchId and ApiKey connection properties.
To obtain the CustomSearchId property, sign into Google Custom Search Engine and create a new search engine.
To obtain the ApiKey property, you must enable the Custom Search API in the Google API Console.
