The CData ODBC Driver for IBM Cloud Object Storage seamlessly integrates IBM Cloud Object Storage data into database management tools like DBArtisan by enabling you to access IBM Cloud Object Storage data as a database. This article shows how to create an data source for IBM Cloud Object Storage in DBArtisan and execute queries. You can then edit data visually and execute standard SQL.
If you have not already, first specify connection properties in an ODBC DSN (data source name). This is the last step of the driver installation. You can use the Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator to create and configure ODBC DSNs.
If you do not already have Cloud Object Storage in your IBM Cloud account, follow the procedure below to install an instance of SQL Query in your account:
There are certain connection properties you need to set before you can connect. You can obtain these as follows:
To connect with IBM Cloud Object Storage, you need an API Key. You can obtain this as follows:
If you have multiple accounts, specify the CloudObjectStorageCRN explicitly. To find the appropriate value, you can:
You can now set the following to connect to data:
When you connect, the connector completes the OAuth process.
You can then follow the steps below to register IBM Cloud Object Storage data as a database instance in your project:
You can now work with IBM Cloud Object Storage data as you work with any other database. See the driver help documentation for more information on the queries supported by the IBM Cloud Object Storage API.
