This article will explain how to use CData Connect AI to present Jira Service Management data as OData services and then consume the data in Microsoft Excel's Power Pivot business intelligence tool. Follow the steps below to retrieve and edit Jira Service Management data in Power Pivot.
To work with Jira Service Management data from Power Pivot, we need to connect to Jira Service Management from Connect AI, provide user access to the connection, and create a Workspace for the Jira Service Management data.
CData Connect AI uses a straightforward, point-and-click interface to connect to data sources.
You can establish a connection to any Jira Service Desk Cloud account or Server instance.
To connect to a Cloud account, you'll first need to retrieve an APIToken. To generate one, log in to your Atlassian account and navigate to API tokens > Create API token. The generated token will be displayed.
Supply the following to connect to data:
To authenticate with a service account, supply the following connection properties:
Note: Password has been deprecated for connecting to a Cloud Account and is now used only to connect to a Server Instance.
By default, the connector only surfaces system fields. To access the custom fields for Issues, set IncludeCustomFields.
π Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
After connecting to Jira Service Management, create a workspace for your desired table(s).
With the connection, PAT, and Workspace configured, you are ready to connect to Jira Service Management data from Power Pivot.
Follow the steps below to import tables that can be refreshed on demand:
Select the tables that you would like to import into Excel
π Selecting tables (Salesforce is shown.)
After selecting your table(s) and clicking Load, you should see the data appear in an Excel spreadsheet
π Loading tables (Salesforce is shown.)
Now, click the Power Pivot tab on the ribbon, and then select Add to Data Model.
π Loading data into Power Pivot (Salesforce is shown.)
This can now work with your Jira Service Management data in Power Pivot.
