CData Connect AI, enables you to access Jira Service Management data from cloud-based applications like the Salesforce console and mobile applications like the Salesforce Mobile App. In this article, you will use CData Connect AI and Salesforce Connect to access external Jira Service Management objects alongside standard Salesforce objects.
To work with live Jira Service Management data in Salesforce Connect, we need to connect to Jira Service Management from Connect AI, provide user access to the connection, and create a Workspace for the Jira Service Management data.
CData Connect AI uses a straightforward, point-and-click interface to connect to data sources.
You can establish a connection to any Jira Service Desk Cloud account or Server instance.
To connect to a Cloud account, you'll first need to retrieve an APIToken. To generate one, log in to your Atlassian account and navigate to API tokens > Create API token. The generated token will be displayed.
Supply the following to connect to data:
To authenticate with a service account, supply the following connection properties:
Note: Password has been deprecated for connecting to a Cloud Account and is now used only to connect to a Server Instance.
By default, the connector only surfaces system fields. To access the custom fields for Issues, set IncludeCustomFields.
π Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
After connecting to Jira Service Management, create a workspace for your desired table(s).
With the connection, PAT, and Workspace configured, you are ready to connect to Jira Service Management data from Salesforce Connect.
Follow the steps below to connect to the feed produced by Connect AI.
After you have created the external data source, follow the steps below to create Jira Service Management external objects that reflect any changes in the data source. You will synchronize the definitions for the Jira Service Management external objects with the definitions for Jira Service Management tables.
After adding Jira Service Management data as an external data source and syncing Jira Service Management tables as external objects, you can use the external Jira Service Management objects just as you would standard Salesforce objects.
