The CData JDBC driver for Marketo is easy to integrate with Java Web applications. This article shows how to efficiently connect to Marketo data in Jetty by configuring the driver for connection pooling. You will configure a JNDI resource for Marketo in Jetty.
Follow the steps below to connect to Salesforce from Jetty.
Enable the JNDI module for your Jetty base. The following command enables JNDI from the command-line:
java -jar ../start.jar --add-to-startd=jndi
Declare the resource and its scope. Enter the required connection properties in the resource declaration. This example declares the Marketo data source at the level of the Web app, in WEB-INF\jetty-env.xml.
<Configure id='marketodemo' class="org.eclipse.jetty.webapp.WebAppContext"> <New id="marketodemo" class="org.eclipse.jetty.plus.jndi.Resource"> <Arg><Ref refid="marketodemo"/></Arg> <Arg>jdbc/marketodb</Arg> <Arg> <New class="cdata.jdbc.marketo.MarketoDriver"> <Set name="url">jdbc:marketo:</Set> <Set name="Schema">REST</Set> <Set name="RESTEndpoint">https://311-IFS-929.mktorest.com/rest</Set> <Set name="OAuthClientId">MyOAuthClientId</Set> <Set name="OAuthClientSecret">MyOAuthClientSecret</Set> </New> </Arg> </New> </Configure>
Both the REST and SOAP APIs are supported and can be chosen by using the Schema property.
For the REST API: The OAuthClientId, OAuthClientSecret, and RESTEndpoint properties, under the OAuth and REST Connection sections, must be set to valid Marketo user credentials.
For the SOAP API: The UserId, EncryptionKey, and SOAPEndpoint properties, under the SOAP Connection section, must be set to valid Marketo user credentials.
See the "Getting Started" chapter of the help documentation for a guide to obtaining these values.
Configure the resource in the Web.xml:
jdbc/marketodb javax.sql.DataSource Container
You can then access Marketo with a lookup to java:comp/env/jdbc/marketodb:
InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
DataSource mymarketo = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/marketodb");
The steps above show how to configure the driver in a simple connection pooling scenario. For more use cases and information, see the Working with Jetty JNDI chapter in the Jetty documentation.
