The CData Excel Add-In for MarkLogic provides formulas that can edit, save, and delete MarkLogic data. The following three steps show how you can automate the following task: Search MarkLogic data for a user-specified value and then organize the results into an Excel spreadsheet.
The syntax of the CDATAQUERY formula is the following:
=CDATAQUERY(Query, [Connection], [Parameters], [ResultLocation]);
This formula requires three inputs:
Connection: Either the connection name, such as MarkLogicConnection1, or a connection string. The connection string consists of the required properties for connecting to MarkLogic data, separated by semicolons.
Set User, Password, and Server to the credentials for the MarkLogic account and the address of the server you want to connect to. You should also specify the REST API Port if you want to use a specific instance of a REST Server.
The procedure below results in a spreadsheet that organizes all the formula inputs in the first column.
=CDATAQUERY("SELECT * FROM Customer WHERE Id = '"&B4&"'","User="&B1&";Password="&B2&";Server="&B3&";Provider=MarkLogic",B5)
