Visualize Live Monday.com Data in Power BI (via CData Connect AI)

Use the CData Power BI Connector and CData Connect AI to integrate live Monday.com data into custom reports in Power BI.

Power BI transforms your company's data into rich visuals for you to collect and organize so you can focus on what matters to you. When paired with CData Connect AI, you get access to Monday.com data for visualizations, dashboards, and more. This article shows how to use CData Connect to create a live connection to Monday.com, connect to Monday.com data from Power BI and then create reports on Monday.com data in Power BI.

Configure Monday.com Connectivity for Power BI

Connectivity to Monday.com from Power BI is made possible through CData Connect AI. To work with Monday.com data from Power BI, we start by creating and configuring a Monday.com connection.

  1. Log into Connect AI, click Sources, and then click Add Connection

  3. Select "Monday.com" from the Add Connection panel

  5. Enter the necessary authentication properties to connect to Monday.com.

    You can connect to Monday.com using either API Token authentication or OAuth authentication.

    Connecting with an API Token

    Connect to Monday.com by specifying the APIToken. Set the AuthScheme to Token and obtain the APIToken as follows:

    • API tokens for admin users
      1. Log in to your Monday.com account and click on your avatar in the bottom left corner.
      2. Select Admin.
      3. Select "API" on the left side of the Admin page.
      4. Click the "Copy" button to copy the user's API token.
    • API tokens for non-admin users
      1. Click on your profile picture in the bottom left of your screen.
      2. Select "Developers"
      3. Click "Developer" and then "My Access Tokens" at the top.
      4. Select "Show" next to the API token, where you'll be able to copy it.

    Connecting with OAuth Authentication

    Alternatively, you can establish a connection using OAuth (refer to the OAuth section of the Help documentation).

  6. Click Save & Test
  7. Navigate to the Permissions tab in the Add Monday.com Connection page and update the User-based permissions. πŸ‘ Updating permissions

With the connection configured, you are ready to connect to Monday.com data from Power BI.

Query Monday.com Tables

Follow the steps below to build a query to pull Monday.com data into the report:

  1. Open Power BI Desktop and click Get Data -> Online Services -> CData Connect AI and click "Connect"
  2. Click "Sign in" and authenticate with your CData Connect AI account πŸ‘ Authenticating with Connect AI
  3. After signing in, click "Connect" πŸ‘ Connecting to Connect AI

  5. Click Load to establish the connection to your Monday.com data from Power BI

Create Monday.com Data Visualizations

After connecting to the data into Power BI, you can create data visualizations in the Report view by dragging fields from the Fields pane onto the canvas. Select the dimensions and measures you wish to visualize along with the chart type.

Click Refresh to synchronize your report with any changes to the data.
