The CData ODBC driver for MongoDB enables access to live data from MongoDB under the ODBC standard, allowing you work with MongoDB data in a wide variety of BI, reporting, and ETL tools and directly, using familiar SQL queries. This article shows how to connect to MongoDB data as a generic ODBC Data Provider and create charts, reports, and dashboards based on MongoDB data in DBxtra.
Accessing and integrating live data from MongoDB has never been easier with CData. Customers rely on CData connectivity to:
MongoDB's flexibility means that it can be used as a transactional, operational, or analytical database. That means CData customers use our solutions to integrate their business data with MongoDB or integrate their MongoDB data with their data warehouse (or both). Customers also leverage our live connectivity options to analyze and report on MongoDB directly from their preferred tools, like Power BI and Tableau.

Set the Server, Database, User, and Password connection properties to connect to MongoDB. To access MongoDB collections as tables you can use automatic schema discovery or write your own schema definitions. Schemas are defined in .rsd files, which have a simple format. You can also execute free-form queries that are not tied to the schema.
When you configure the DSN, you may also want to set the Max Rows connection property. This will limit the number of rows returned, which is especially helpful for improving performance when designing reports and visualizations.
You are now ready to create a dashboard with MongoDB data.
With a new Dashboard created, you are ready to begin analysis of MongoDB data. Thanks to the ODBC Driver for MongoDB, you can refresh the Dashboard and immediately see any changes made at the source. In the same way, you can create and view Reports with live, up-to-date MongoDB data.
