ChatGPT is an AI chatbot developed by OpenAI, launched in November 2022. Based on large language models (LLMs), it enables users to refine and steer conversations through natural language processing. ChatGPT's developer mode, available to Plus and Pro subscribers, provides full Model Context Protocol (MCP) support for connecting to external data sources and tools.
CData Connect AI offers a dedicated cloud-to-cloud interface for connecting to Microsoft Planner data. The CData Connect AI Remote MCP Server enables secure communication between ChatGPT and Microsoft Planner. This allows you to ask questions and take actions on your Microsoft Planner data using ChatGPT, all without the need for data replication to a natively supported database. With its inherent optimized data processing capabilities, CData Connect AI efficiently channels all supported SQL operations, including filters and JOINs, directly to Microsoft Planner. This leverages server-side processing to swiftly deliver the requested Microsoft Planner data.
Step 1: Configure Microsoft Planner Connectivity for ChatGPT
Connectivity to Microsoft Planner from ChatGPT is made possible through CData Connect AI Remote MCP. To interact with Microsoft Planner data from ChatGPT, we start by creating and configuring a Microsoft Planner connection in CData Connect AI.
-
Log into your Connect AI account, click Sources, and then click Add Connection.
π Adding a Connection
- Select "Microsoft Planner" from the Add Connection panel.
π Selecting a data source
-
Enter the necessary authentication properties to connect to Microsoft Planner.
You can connect without setting any connection properties for your user credentials. Below are the minimum connection properties required to connect.
- InitiateOAuth: Set this to GETANDREFRESH. You can use InitiateOAuth to avoid repeating the OAuth exchange and manually setting the OAuthAccessToken.
- Tenant (optional): Set this if you wish to authenticate to a different tenant than your default. This is required to work with an organization not on your default Tenant.
When you connect the Driver opens the MS Planner OAuth endpoint in your default browser. Log in and grant permissions to the Driver. The Driver then completes the OAuth process.
- Extracts the access token from the callback URL and authenticates requests.
- Obtains a new access token when the old one expires.
- Saves OAuth values in OAuthSettingsLocation to be persisted across connections.
