UiPath is a Robotic Process Automation (RPA) platform with rich features and an easy-to-use UI that enables non-developers to create process automation. By using UiPath Studio, you can build an RPA program just like drawing a diagram. With the CData API Driver for ODBC, users can embed NASA data in the workflow.
This article explains how to use the NASA ODBC Driver in UiPath Studio to create an RPA program that accesses NASA data.
๐ Using the CData ODBC Data Sources in UiPathIf you have not already, first specify connection properties in an ODBC DSN (data source name). This is the last step of the driver installation. You can use the Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator to create and configure ODBC DSNs.
Most NASA API endpoints (APOD, NeoWS, DONKI, TechTransfer) require a NASA API key. Register for a free key at https://api.nasa.gov. The default DEMO_KEY provides limited access (30 requests/hour, 50 requests/day); a registered key allows 1,000 requests/hour.
The following endpoints do not require an API key and work without authentication: EONET (Earth Observatory Natural Event Tracker), EPIC (Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera), NASA Image and Video Library, and TechPort.
After obtaining your API key, set the following connection properties:
Profile=C:\profiles\NASA.apip;AuthScheme=APIKey;APIKey=YOUR_NASA_API_KEY
Once the authentication is configured, you can connect to NASA and query data from any of the available tables such as AstronomyPictureOfDay, NearEarthObjectFeed, EonetEvents, and NasaImageLibrary.
Now you are ready to use NASA data ODBC DSN in UiPath Studio with the following steps.
With the connection configured, we are ready to query NASA data in our RPA.
With the Connection and Execute Query activities configured, we are ready to add a Write CSV activity to the Flowchart to replicate the NASA data.
If they are not already connected, connect each Activity that you created to complete the RPA project for extracting NASA data and exporting it to CSV.
๐ Connect each Activity in the FlowchartClick Run to extract NASA data and create a CSV file.
