How to pipe Neo4J Data to CSV in PowerShell

The CData Cmdlets Module for Neo4J is a standard PowerShell module offering straightforward integration with Neo4J. Below, you will find examples of using our Neo4j Cmdlets with native PowerShell cmdlets.

Creating a Connection to Your Neo4J Data

To connect to Neo4j, set the following connection properties:

• Server: The server hosting the Neo4j instance.
• Port: The port on which the Neo4j service is running. The provider connects to port 7474 by default.
• User: The username of the user using the Neo4j instance.
• Password: The password of the user using the Neo4j instance.

$conn = Connect-Neo4j -Server "$Server" -Port "$Port" -User "$User" -Password "$Password"

Selecting Data

Follow the steps below to retrieve data from the ProductCategory table and pipe the result into to a CSV file:

Select-Neo4j -Connection $conn -Table ProductCategory | Select -Property * -ExcludeProperty Connection,Table,Columns | Export-Csv -Path c:\myProductCategoryData.csv -NoTypeInformation

You will notice that we piped the results from Select-Neo4j into a Select-Object cmdlet and excluded some properties before piping them into an Export-Csv cmdlet. We do this because the CData Cmdlets append Connection, Table, and Columns information onto each "row" in the result set, and we do not necessarily want that information in our CSV file.

The Connection, Table, and Columns are appended to the results in order to facilitate piping results from one of the CData Cmdlets directly into another one.
