The CData JDBC driver for Nuclia is easy to integrate with Java Web applications. This article shows how to efficiently connect to Nuclia data in Jetty by configuring the driver for connection pooling. You will configure a JNDI resource for Nuclia in Jetty.
Follow the steps below to connect to Salesforce from Jetty.
Enable the JNDI module for your Jetty base. The following command enables JNDI from the command-line:
java -jar ../start.jar --add-to-startd=jndi
Declare the resource and its scope. Enter the required connection properties in the resource declaration. This example declares the Nuclia data source at the level of the Web app, in WEB-INF\jetty-env.xml.
<Configure id='nucliademo' class="org.eclipse.jetty.webapp.WebAppContext"> <New id="nucliademo" class="org.eclipse.jetty.plus.jndi.Resource"> <Arg><Ref refid="nucliademo"/></Arg> <Arg>jdbc/nucliadb</Arg> <Arg> <New class="cdata.jdbc.api.APIDriver"> <Set name="url">jdbc:api:</Set> <Set name="Profile">C:\profiles\Nuclia.apip</Set> <Set name="AuthScheme">APIKey</Set> <Set name="APIKey">your_service_account_key</Set> <Set name="KbId">your_kb_uuid</Set> <Set name="Zone">aws-us-east-2-1</Set> </New> </Arg> </New> </Configure>
Nuclia uses API key authentication for accessing Knowledge Box data. To obtain an API key:
After obtaining your API key, set the following connection properties:
Profile=C:\profiles\Nuclia.apip;AuthScheme=APIKey;APIKey=your_service_account_key;KbId=your_kb_uuid;Zone=aws-us-east-2-1;
Once the authentication is configured, you can connect to Nuclia and query data from any of the available tables such as Resources, KnowledgeBox, LabelSets, and ProcessingStatus.
Configure the resource in the Web.xml:
jdbc/nucliadb javax.sql.DataSource Container
You can then access Nuclia with a lookup to java:comp/env/jdbc/nucliadb:
InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
DataSource mynuclia = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/nucliadb");
The steps above show how to configure the driver in a simple connection pooling scenario. For more use cases and information, see the Working with Jetty JNDI chapter in the Jetty documentation.
