The CData JDBC driver for Odoo is easy to integrate with Java Web applications. This article shows how to efficiently connect to Odoo data in Jetty by configuring the driver for connection pooling. You will configure a JNDI resource for Odoo in Jetty.
Accessing and integrating live data from Odoo has never been easier with CData. Customers rely on CData connectivity to:
Users frequently integrate Odoo with analytics tools such as Power BI and Qlik Sense, and leverage our tools to replicate Odoo data to databases or data warehouses.
Follow the steps below to connect to Salesforce from Jetty.
Enable the JNDI module for your Jetty base. The following command enables JNDI from the command-line:
java -jar ../start.jar --add-to-startd=jndi
Declare the resource and its scope. Enter the required connection properties in the resource declaration. This example declares the Odoo data source at the level of the Web app, in WEB-INF\jetty-env.xml.
<Configure id='odoodemo' class="org.eclipse.jetty.webapp.WebAppContext"> <New id="odoodemo" class="org.eclipse.jetty.plus.jndi.Resource"> <Arg><Ref refid="odoodemo"/></Arg> <Arg>jdbc/odoodb</Arg> <Arg> <New class="cdata.jdbc.odoo.OdooDriver"> <Set name="url">jdbc:odoo:</Set> <Set name="User">MyUser</Set> <Set name="Password">MyPassword</Set> <Set name="URL">http://MyOdooSite/</Set> <Set name="Database">MyDatabase</Set> </New> </Arg> </New> </Configure>
To connect, set the Url to a valid Odoo site, User and Password to the connection details of the user you are connecting with, and Database to the Odoo database.
Configure the resource in the Web.xml:
jdbc/odoodb javax.sql.DataSource Container
You can then access Odoo with a lookup to java:comp/env/jdbc/odoodb:
InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
DataSource myodoo = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/odoodb");
The steps above show how to configure the driver in a simple connection pooling scenario. For more use cases and information, see the Working with Jetty JNDI chapter in the Jetty documentation.
