This article will explain how to use CData Connect AI to present Office 365 data as OData services and then consume the data in Microsoft Excel's Power Pivot business intelligence tool. Follow the steps below to retrieve and edit Office 365 data in Power Pivot.
To work with Office 365 data from Power Pivot, we need to connect to Office 365 from Connect AI, provide user access to the connection, and create a Workspace for the Office 365 data.
CData Connect AI uses a straightforward, point-and-click interface to connect to data sources.
Office 365 uses the OAuth authentication standard. To authenticate requests, obtain the OAuthClientId, OAuthClientSecret, and OAuthCallbackURL by registering an app with Office 365. See the "Getting Started" chapter of the help documentation for a guide to using OAuth.
π Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
After connecting to Office 365, create a workspace for your desired table(s).
With the connection, PAT, and Workspace configured, you are ready to connect to Office 365 data from Power Pivot.
Follow the steps below to import tables that can be refreshed on demand:
Select the tables that you would like to import into Excel
π Selecting tables (Salesforce is shown.)
After selecting your table(s) and clicking Load, you should see the data appear in an Excel spreadsheet
π Loading tables (Salesforce is shown.)
Now, click the Power Pivot tab on the ribbon, and then select Add to Data Model.
π Loading data into Power Pivot (Salesforce is shown.)
This can now work with your Office 365 data in Power Pivot.
