The CData JDBC driver for PayPal is easy to integrate with Java Web applications. This article shows how to efficiently connect to PayPal data in Jetty by configuring the driver for connection pooling. You will configure a JNDI resource for PayPal in Jetty.
Follow the steps below to connect to Salesforce from Jetty.
Enable the JNDI module for your Jetty base. The following command enables JNDI from the command-line:
java -jar ../start.jar --add-to-startd=jndi
Declare the resource and its scope. Enter the required connection properties in the resource declaration. This example declares the PayPal data source at the level of the Web app, in WEB-INF\jetty-env.xml.
<Configure id='paypaldemo' class="org.eclipse.jetty.webapp.WebAppContext"> <New id="paypaldemo" class="org.eclipse.jetty.plus.jndi.Resource"> <Arg><Ref refid="paypaldemo"/></Arg> <Arg>jdbc/paypaldb</Arg> <Arg> <New class="cdata.jdbc.paypal.PayPalDriver"> <Set name="url">jdbc:paypal:</Set> <Set name="Schema">SOAP</Set> <Set name="Username">sandbox-facilitator_api1.test.com</Set> <Set name="Password">xyz123</Set> <Set name="Signature">zx2127</Set> <Set name="InitiateOAuth">GETANDREFRESH</Set> </New> </Arg> </New> </Configure>
The provider surfaces tables from two PayPal APIs. The APIs use different authentication methods.
See the "Getting Started" chapter of the help documentation for a guide to obtaining the necessary API credentials.
To select the API you want to work with, you can set the Schema property to REST or SOAP. By default the SOAP schema will be used.
For testing purposes you can set UseSandbox to true and use sandbox credentials.
Configure the resource in the Web.xml:
jdbc/paypaldb javax.sql.DataSource Container
You can then access PayPal with a lookup to java:comp/env/jdbc/paypaldb:
InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
DataSource mypaypal = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/paypaldb");
The steps above show how to configure the driver in a simple connection pooling scenario. For more use cases and information, see the Working with Jetty JNDI chapter in the Jetty documentation.
