The CData JDBC driver for Pinterest is easy to integrate with Java Web applications. This article shows how to efficiently connect to Pinterest data in Jetty by configuring the driver for connection pooling. You will configure a JNDI resource for Pinterest in Jetty.
Follow the steps below to connect to Salesforce from Jetty.
Enable the JNDI module for your Jetty base. The following command enables JNDI from the command-line:
java -jar ../start.jar --add-to-startd=jndi
Declare the resource and its scope. Enter the required connection properties in the resource declaration. This example declares the Pinterest data source at the level of the Web app, in WEB-INF\jetty-env.xml.
<Configure id='pinterestdemo' class="org.eclipse.jetty.webapp.WebAppContext"> <New id="pinterestdemo" class="org.eclipse.jetty.plus.jndi.Resource"> <Arg><Ref refid="pinterestdemo"/></Arg> <Arg>jdbc/pinterestdb</Arg> <Arg> <New class="cdata.jdbc.pinterest.PinterestDriver"> <Set name="url">jdbc:pinterest:</Set> <Set name="OAuthClientId">YourClientId</Set> <Set name="OAuthClientSecret">YourClientSecret</Set> <Set name="CallbackURL">'https://localhost:33333'</Set> <Set name="InitiateOAuth">GETANDREFRESH</Set> </New> </Arg> </New> </Configure>
Pinterest authentication is based on the standard OAuth flow. To authenticate, you must initially create an app via the Pinterest developer platform where you can obtain an OAuthClientId, OAuthClientSecret, and CallbackURL.
Set InitiateOAuth to GETANDREFRESH and set OAuthClientId, OAuthClientSecret, and CallbackURL based on the property values for the app you created.
See the Help documentation for other OAuth authentication flows.
Configure the resource in the Web.xml:
jdbc/pinterestdb javax.sql.DataSource Container
You can then access Pinterest with a lookup to java:comp/env/jdbc/pinterestdb:
InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
DataSource mypinterest = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/pinterestdb");
The steps above show how to configure the driver in a simple connection pooling scenario. For more use cases and information, see the Working with Jetty JNDI chapter in the Jetty documentation.
