The CData ODBC driver for Power BI XMLA enables access to live data from Power BI XMLA under the ODBC standard, allowing you work with Power BI XMLA data in a wide variety of BI, reporting, and ETL tools and directly, using familiar SQL queries. This article shows how to connect to Power BI XMLA data as a generic ODBC Data Provider and create charts, reports, and dashboards based on Power BI XMLA data in DBxtra.
By default, use Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) to connect to Microsoft Power BI XMLA. Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) is Microsoft's multi-tenant, cloud-based directory and identity management service. It is user-based authentication that requires that you set AuthScheme to EntraID (formerly AzureAD).
For more information on other authentication schemes, refer to the Help documentation.
When you configure the DSN, you may also want to set the Max Rows connection property. This will limit the number of rows returned, which is especially helpful for improving performance when designing reports and visualizations.
You are now ready to create a dashboard with Power BI XMLA data.
With a new Dashboard created, you are ready to begin analysis of Power BI XMLA data. Thanks to the ODBC Driver for Power BI XMLA, you can refresh the Dashboard and immediately see any changes made at the source.
