Use wizards in DBArtisan to configure QuickBooks Online data as a data source.

The CData ODBC Driver for QuickBooks Online seamlessly integrates QuickBooks Online data into database management tools like DBArtisan by enabling you to access QuickBooks Online data as a database. This article shows how to create an data source for QuickBooks Online in DBArtisan and execute queries. You can then edit data visually and execute standard SQL.

About QuickBooks Online Data Integration

CData provides the easiest way to access and integrate live data from QuickBooks Online. Customers use CData connectivity to:

Getting Started


Integrate QuickBooks Online Data into DBArtisan Projects

If you have not already, first specify connection properties in an ODBC DSN (data source name). This is the last step of the driver installation. You can use the Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator to create and configure ODBC DSNs.

QuickBooks Online uses the OAuth authentication standard. OAuth requires the authenticating user to log in through the browser. To authenticate using OAuth, you can use the embedded OAuthClientId, OAuthClientSecret, and CallbackURL or you can obtain your own by registering an app with Intuit. Additionally, if you want to connect to sandbox data, set UseSandbox to true.

You can then follow the steps below to register QuickBooks Online data as a database instance in your project:

  1. In DBArtisan, click Data Source -> Register Datasource.
  2. Select Generic ODBC.
  3. Enter a name for the data source and select the DSN. 👁 The DSN of the data source to be registered. (Salesforce is shown.)
  4. Finish the wizard to connect to QuickBooks Online data. QuickBooks Online entities are displayed in the Datasource Explorer. 👁 The Datasource Explorer. (Salesforce is shown.)
