How to Query Live Quickbase Data in Claude Desktop

In this article, we guide the reader through installing CData Code Assist MCP for Quickbase, configuring the connection to Quickbase, and asking questions of the data in Claude Desktop.

Step 1: Download and install CData Code Assist MCP

1. To begin, navigate to https://www.cdata.com/solutions/codeassist/ and download the CData Code Assist MCP for Quickbase. 👁 Downloading the CData Code Assist MCP installer

When the installation is complete, you are ready to configure Code Assist MCP by connecting to Quickbase.

Step 2: Configure the connection to Quickbase

1. After installation, the Code Assist MCP configuration wizard should open automatically. 👁 The Code Assist MCP configuration wizard.

2. Click the dropdown menu in MCP Configuration > Configuration Name and select "
3. Name the configuration (e.g. "cdataquickbase") and click "OK."

   NOTE: This name is used as the name for the MCP server and as the prefix for all of the MCP Server's tools.

4. Connecting to Quickbase

   User Authentication Method

   To authenticate with user credentials, specify the following connection properties:

   1. Set the User and Password.
   2. If your application requires an ApplicationToken;, you must provide it otherwise an error will be thrown. You can find the ApplicationToken under SpecificApp > Settings > App management > App properties > Advanced settings > Security options > Manage Application Token.

   User Token Authentication

   To authenticate with a user token, specify the following connection properties:

   1. Set UserToken and you are ready to connect. You can find the UserToken under Quick Base > My Preferences > My User Information > Manage User Tokens.

   Enter the appropriate connection properties in the configuration wizard.

5. Click "Connect" to authenticate with Quickbase.
