This guide explains everything you need to get started with the Reckon PowerShell Cmdlets. You'll learn how to install the cmdlets, configure your first connection, run queries, and explore next steps for working with Reckon data in PowerShell.
CData PowerShell Cmdlets run anywhere PowerShell runs.
CData Cmdlets are delivered through the PowerShell Gallery, ensuring a simple and consistent installation process across platforms.
Install-Module ReckonCmdlets -Repository PSGallery -Force

The cmdlets support both trial and fully licensed activation.
Trial activation is automatic - no key is required. Once installed, you can begin using the cmdlets immediately.
If you have purchased a full license, you will receive a product key from the CData Orders Team.
Run the following command:
Set-ModuleLicense ""
You should see a confirmation message indicating successful activation.
Can I use my license on multiple machines?

Once the module is installed and licensed, you can establish a connection to Reckon using the
Connect-Reckon cmdlet
After obtaining the needed connection properties, accessing Reckon data in PowerShell and preparing for replication consists of four basic steps.
When you are connecting to a local Reckon instance, you do not need to set any connection properties.
Requests to Reckon are made through the Remote Connector. The Remote Connector runs on the same machine as Reckon and accepts connections through a lightweight, embedded Web server. The server supports SSL/TLS, enabling users to connect securely from remote machines.
The first time you connect to your company file, authorize the Remote Connector with Reckon. See the "Getting Started" chapter of the help documentation for a guide.
Install the module:
Install-Module ReckonCmdlets
Connect to Reckon:
$reckon = Connect-Reckon -User $User -Password $Password -URL $URL
Once connected, you can query data using standard SQL like commands.
Example Query:
$results = Select-Reckon ` -Connection $conn ` -Table "Customers" ` -Columns "Name,CustomerBalance" ` -Where "Name != ''"
Display the results:
$results
You have now successfully accessed Reckon data from PowerShell!
