How to connect to Reckon Accounts Hosted Data from IntelliJ

The CData JDBC Driver for Reckon Accounts Hosted enables you to access Reckon Accounts Hosted as a JDBC data source, providing integration with rapid development tools in IDEs. This article shows how to use the data source configuration wizard to connect to Reckon Accounts Hosted data in IntelliJ.

Create a JBDC Data Source for Reckon Accounts Hosted

Follow the steps below to add the driver JAR and define connection properties required to connect to Reckon Accounts Hosted data.

1. In the Data Sources window, right-click and then click Add Data Source -> DB Data Source.

2. In the Data Source Properties dialog that appears, the following properties are required:

   • JDBC Driver Files: Click the button next to this menu to add the JDBC Driver file cdata.jdbc.reckonaccountshosted.jar, located in the installation directory.
   • JDBC Driver Class: In this menu, select cdata.jdbc.reckonaccountshosted.ReckonAccountsHostedDriver from the list.

   • Database URL: Enter the connection URL in the JDBC URL property. The URL must start with jdbc:reckonaccountshosted: and includes connection properties separated with semicolons.

     The connector makes requests to Reckon Accounts Hosted through OAuth. Specify the following connection properties:

     • SubscriptionKey: Required. You get this value when you created your developer account.
     • CountryVersion: Defaults to 2021.R2.AU.
     • CompanyFile: Required. The path to the company file.
     • User: Required. The username of the company file.
     • Password: Required. The password of the company file.
     • InitiateOAuth: Set this to GETANDREFRESH to let the driver handle access tokens.
     • CallbackURL: The redirectURI of your Custom OAuth App.
     • OAuthClientId: The client id of your Custom OAuth App.
     • OAuthClientSecret: The client secret of your Custom OAuth App.

     CData provides an embedded OAuth application that simplifies OAuth desktop authentication. See the Help documentation for information on other OAuth authentication methods (web, headless, etc.), creating custom OAuth applications, and reasons for doing so.

     Built-in Connection String Designer

     For assistance in constructing the JDBC URL, use the connection string designer built into the Reckon Accounts Hosted JDBC Driver. Either double-click the JAR file or execute the jar file from the command-line.

     Fill in the connection properties and copy the connection string to the clipboard.

Edit and Save Reckon Accounts Hosted Data

To discover schema information, right-click the data source you just created and click Refresh Tables. To query a table, right-click it and then click Open Tables Editor. You can also modify records in the Table Editor.
