Embarcadero RAD Studio provides a development environment for Delphi and C++Builder applications. With the CData ODBC Driver for Sage 300, you gain access to live Sage 300 data within RAD Studio, abstracting the data into tables, views, and stored procedures that can be used to retrieve Sage 300 data. This article will walk through connecting to Sage 300 and creating a simple VCL application with the Form Designer.
If you have not already, first specify connection properties in an ODBC DSN (data source name). This is the last step of the driver installation. You can use the Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator to create and configure ODBC DSNs.
Sage 300 requires some initial setup in order to communicate over the Sage 300 Web API.
Authenticate to Sage 300 using Basic authentication.
You must provide values for the following properties to successfully authenticate to Sage 300. Note that the provider reuses the session opened by Sage 300 using cookies. This means that your credentials are used only on the first request to open the session. After that, cookies returned from Sage 300 are used for authentication.
You can then follow the steps below to use the Data Explorer to create a FireDAC connection to Sage 300 data.
Follow the procedure below to start executing queries to Sage 300 data from a simple VCL application that displays the results of a query in a grid.
Drop a TFDConnection component onto the form and set the following properties:
Drop a TFDQuery component onto the form and set the properties below:
SQL: Click the button in the SQL property and enter a query. For example:
SELECT InvoiceUniquifier, ApprovedLimit FROM OEInvoices WHERE AllowPartialShipments = 'Yes'
Drop a TDataSource component onto the form and set the following property:
Drop a TDBGrid control onto the form and set the following property:
You now have an executable application that displays the results of the SQL Query set in the TFDQuery object.

👁 Sage 300 IconThe Sage 300 ODBC Driver is a powerful tool that allows you to connect with live data from Sage 300, directly from any applications that support ODBC connectivity.
Access Sage 300 data like you would a database - read, write, and update Sage 300 Invoices, Receipts, Refunds, etc. through a standard ODBC Driver interface.
