Nintex Workflow Cloud is a cloud-based platform where you can design workflows to automate simple or complex processes using drag-and-drop interactions β without writing any code. When paired with CData Connect AI, you get instant, cloud-to-cloud access to Salesforce Marketing data for business applications. This article shows how to create a virtual database for Salesforce Marketing in Connect AI and build a simple workflow from Salesforce Marketing data in Nintex.
CData Connect AI provides a pure, cloud-to-cloud interface for Salesforce Marketing, allowing you to build workflows from live Salesforce Marketing data in Nintex Workflow Cloud β without replicating the data to a natively supported database. Nintex allows you to access data directly using SQL queries. Using optimized data processing out of the box, CData Connect AI pushes all supported SQL operations (filters, JOINs, etc.) directly to Salesforce Marketing, leveraging server-side processing to quickly return the requested Salesforce Marketing data.
Connectivity to Salesforce Marketing from Nintex is made possible through CData Connect AI. To work with Salesforce Marketing data from Nintex, we start by creating and configuring a Salesforce Marketing connection.
Authenticating to the Salesforce Marketing Cloud APIs

Connecting to the Salesforce Marketing Cloud APIs
By default, the data provider connects to production environments. Set to true to use a Salesforce Marketing Cloud sandbox account.
The default Instance is s7 of the Web Services API; however, if you use a different instance, you can set .
π Configuring a connection (Salesforce is shown)When connecting to Connect AI through the REST API, the OData API, or the Virtual SQL Server, a Personal Access Token (PAT) is used to authenticate the connection to Connect AI. It is best practice to create a separate PAT for each service to maintain granularity of access.
With the connection configured and a PAT generated, you are ready to connect to Salesforce Marketing data from Nintex Workflow Cloud.
The steps below outline creating a new connection to Salesforce Marketing data from Nintex (via Connect AI).
With the connection to CData Connect AI configured, we are ready to build a simple workflow to access Salesforce Marketing data. Start by clicking the "Create workflow" button.
Once you configure the actions, click "Save," name the Workflow, and click "Save" again. You now have a simple workflow that will query Salesforce Marketing using SQL and sand an email with the results.
