The CData JDBC driver for Salesloft is easy to integrate with Java Web applications. This article shows how to efficiently connect to Salesloft data in Jetty by configuring the driver for connection pooling. You will configure a JNDI resource for Salesloft in Jetty.
Follow the steps below to connect to Salesforce from Jetty.
Enable the JNDI module for your Jetty base. The following command enables JNDI from the command-line:
java -jar ../start.jar --add-to-startd=jndi
Declare the resource and its scope. Enter the required connection properties in the resource declaration. This example declares the Salesloft data source at the level of the Web app, in WEB-INF\jetty-env.xml.
<Configure id='salesloftdemo' class="org.eclipse.jetty.webapp.WebAppContext"> <New id="salesloftdemo" class="org.eclipse.jetty.plus.jndi.Resource"> <Arg><Ref refid="salesloftdemo"/></Arg> <Arg>jdbc/salesloftdb</Arg> <Arg> <New class="cdata.jdbc.salesloft.SalesLoftDriver"> <Set name="url">jdbc:salesloft:</Set> <Set name="AuthScheme">OAuth</Set> <Set name="OAuthClientId">MyOAuthClientId</Set> <Set name="OAuthClientSecret">MyOAuthClientSecret</Set> <Set name="CallbackUrl">http://localhost:33333</Set> <Set name="InitiateOAuth">GETANDREFRESH</Set> </New> </Arg> </New> </Configure>SalesLoft authenticates using the OAuth authentication standard or an API Key. OAuth requires the authenticating user to interact with SalesLoft using the browser.
Alternatively, you can authenticate with an APIKey. Provision an API key from the SalesLoft user interface: https://accounts.salesloft.com/oauth/applications/. You will receive a Key which will be used when issuing requests.
Configure the resource in the Web.xml:
jdbc/salesloftdb javax.sql.DataSource Container
You can then access Salesloft with a lookup to java:comp/env/jdbc/salesloftdb:
InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
DataSource mysalesloft = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/salesloftdb");
The steps above show how to configure the driver in a simple connection pooling scenario. For more use cases and information, see the Working with Jetty JNDI chapter in the Jetty documentation.
