You can use the CData API Server to create data visualizations based on SAP data in SAP Lumira. The API Server enables connectivity to live data: dashboards and reports can be refreshed on demand. This article shows how to create a chart that is always up to date.
CData provides the easiest way to access and integrate live data from SAP. Customers use CData connectivity to:
While most users leverage our tools to replicate SAP data to databases or data warehouses, many also integrate live SAP data with analytics tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Excel.
If you have not already done so, download the CData API Server. Once you have installed the API Server, follow the steps below to begin producing secure SAP OData services:
To work with SAP data from SAP Lumira, we start by creating and configuring a SAP connection. Follow the steps below to configure the API Server to connect to SAP data:
The Java edition supports connecting to an SAP system using the JCo .jar file. See the "Getting Started" chapter in the help documentation for information on using the Jco JAR file.
The Windows edition supports connecting to SAP systems using either the librfc32.dll, the librfc32u.dll, NetWeaver, or Web Services (SOAP). Set the ConnectionType connection property to CLASSIC (librfc32.dll), CLASSIC_UNICODE (librfc32u.dll), NETWEAVER, or SOAP.
Note: We do not distribute the librfc32.dll or other SAP assemblies. You must find them from your SAP installation and install them on your machine.
All versions of Sync support connecting to an SAP system using Web services (SOAP). If you are using the SOAP interface you must enable SOAP access to your SAP system and set the Client, RFCUrl, SystemNumber, User, and Password properties, under the Authentication section. Additionally, set the ConnectionType to SOAP.
See this guide on obtaining the connection properties needed to connect to any SAP system.

Having created a user, you are ready to create API endpoints for the SAP tables:
Having configured a connection to SAP data, created a user, and added resources to the API Server, you now have an easily accessible REST API based on the OData protocol for those resources. From the API page in API Server, you can view and copy the API Endpoints for the API:
π API EndpointsFollow the steps below to retrieve SAP data into SAP Lumira. You can execute an SQL query or use the UI.

Select entities in the tree or enter an SQL query. This article imports SAP MARA entities.
π Available entities for import. (Salesforce is shown.)When you click Connect, SAP Lumira will generate the corresponding OData request and load the results into memory. You can then use any of the data processing tools available in SAP Lumira, such as filters, aggregates, and summary functions.
π Tables of SAP data to be imported into SAP Lumira. (Salesforce Accounts are shown.)After you have imported the data, you can create data visualizations in the Visualize room. Follow the steps below to create a basic chart.
In the Measures and Dimensions pane, drag measures and dimensions onto the x-axis and y-axis fields in the Visualization Tools pane. SAP Lumira automatically detects dimensions and measures from the metadata service of the API Server.
By default, the SUM function is applied to all measures. Click the gear icon next to a measure to change the default summary.
