How to Query Live SAP Ariba Procurement Data in Perplexity MacOS Desktop

In this article, we guide you through installing CData Code Assist MCP for SAP Ariba Procurement, configuring the connection to SAP Ariba Procurement, and interacting with your live SAP Ariba Procurement data from Perplexity Desktop.

Step 1: Download and install CData Code Assist MCP for SAP Ariba Procurement

2. Find and double-click the installer to begin the installation

When the installation is complete, you are ready to configure Code Assist MCP by connecting to SAP Ariba Procurement.

NOTE: Since you downloaded the application from the internet and not the Apple App Store, you may see a warning that the application was not opened because Apple could not verify its security. You may continue with the installation.

2. Open "System Settings" on your machine and navigate to the "Privacy & Security" page

Step 2: Configure the Connection to SAP Ariba Procurement

1. After installation, you can open CData Code Assist MCP for SAP Ariba Procurement from the Applications folder on your mac 👁 The Code Assist MCP configuration wizard
   
2. Click the dropdown menu in MCP Configuration > Configuration Name and select "new configuration" 👁 Creating a new configuration
   
3. Name the configuration (e.g. "cdata_saparibaprocurement") and click "OK" 👁 Naming the configuration
   

4. Enter the appropriate connection properties in the configuration wizard.

   In order to connect with SAP Ariba Procurement, set the following:

   • ANID: Your Ariba Network ID.
   • ANID: Specify which API you would like the provider to retrieve SAP Ariba data from. Select the Buyer or Supplier API based on your business role (possible values are PurchaseOrdersBuyerAPIV1 or PurchaseOrdersSupplierAPIV1).
   • Environment: Indicate whether you are connecting to a test or production environment (possible values are TEST or PRODUCTION).

   Authenticating with OAuth

   After setting connection properties, you need to configure OAuth connectivity to authenticate.

   • Set AuthScheme to OAuthClient.
   • Register an application with the service to obtain the APIKey, OAuthClientId and OAuthClientSecret.

   Automatic OAuth

   After setting the following, you are ready to connect:

   APIKey: The Application key in your app settings. OAuthClientId: The OAuth Client Id in your app settings. OAuthClientSecret: The OAuth Secret in your app settings.

   When you connect, the provider automatically completes the OAuth process:

   1. The provider obtains an access token from SAP Ariba and uses it to request data.
   2. The provider refreshes the access token automatically when it expires.
   3. The OAuth values are saved in memory relative to the location specified in OAuthSettingsLocation.

5. Click "Connect" to authenticate with SAP Ariba Procurement through OAuth.

With Code Assist MCP configured, you are ready to connect it to Perplexity Desktop.

Step 3: Connect Code Assist MCP to Perplexity Desktop

1. Download the Perplexity Desktop application for macOS and sign in with your Pro or Premium account
2. Open Settings > Connectors. If the Perplexity Helper App is not installed, you will be prompted to download it. Install the Helper App, then restart Perplexity Desktop 👁 Downloading Perplexity Helper App
   
3. After restarting, return to Settings > Connectors and click Add Connector
4. Select the Simple tab and assign a name for the connector (e.g., "CData SAP Ariba Procurement"). In the Command box, enter the absolute path to the Code Assist MCP executable.
