Embarcadero RAD Studio provides a development environment for Delphi and C++Builder applications. With the CData ODBC Driver for SAP Business Warehouse, you gain access to live SAP Business Warehouse data within RAD Studio, abstracting the data into tables, views, and stored procedures that can be used to retrieve SAP Business Warehouse data. This article will walk through connecting to SAP Business Warehouse and creating a simple VCL application with the Form Designer.
If you have not already, first specify connection properties in an ODBC DSN (data source name). This is the last step of the driver installation. You can use the Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator to create and configure ODBC DSNs.
To connect to SAP Business Warehouse, set the URL property to a valid SAP Business Warehouse server base URL. The driver must connect to SAP Business Warehouse instances hosted over HTTP with XMLA access.
The driver supports the following authentication schemes via the AuthScheme property:
By default, the driver attempts to negotiate SSL/TLS by checking the server's certificate against the system's trusted certificate store. To specify another certificate, see the SSLServerCert property for the available formats.
You can then follow the steps below to use the Data Explorer to create a FireDAC connection to SAP Business Warehouse data.
Follow the procedure below to start executing queries to SAP Business Warehouse data from a simple VCL application that displays the results of a query in a grid.
Drop a TFDConnection component onto the form and set the following properties:
Drop a TFDQuery component onto the form and set the properties below:
SQL: Click the button in the SQL property and enter a query. For example:
SELECT CustomerCount, City FROM Sales WHERE Country = 'US'
Drop a TDataSource component onto the form and set the following property:
Drop a TDBGrid control onto the form and set the following property:
You now have an executable application that displays the results of the SQL Query set in the TFDQuery object.

👁 SAP Business Warehouse IconThe SAP Business Warehouse ODBC Driver is a powerful tool that allows you to connect with live data from SAP Business Warehouse, directly from any applications that support ODBC connectivity.
Access SAP Business Warehouse data like you would a database - read, write, and update SAP Business Warehouse Tables, etc. through a standard ODBC Driver interface.
